Opulentia - Chest of Sardinia in chestnut

Typical chest of Sardinian handicrafts, made of chestnut wood, and embellished with finely carved decorations.
Unlike traditional chests, which open from above, this object has a door that opens from the front. This allows to use the upper surface as the basis for objects.
Note that the sides are also decorated with carvings. This feature was typical of the chests built for wealthy families, while in most cases the sides were in plain wood, and front decoration are reduced to a minimum.
